PARENT’S CODE OF CONDUCT

  1. SYSA wants every parent to sit back, relax, and enjoy the game.
  2. Remember you are at the game to support and encourage your child/team and to enjoy the skill and competition. Ridicule and taunting of the other team, officials or fans will not be tolerated and may result in your team being penalized and your removal from the field
  3. Learn the rules of the game, so you may begin to understand the subtleties of game situations. Teach the rules to your children and encourage them to respect them
  4. Show respect for your child’s teammates, coaches and fans
  5. Show respect for your child’s opponents, coaches and their fans
  6. Show respect for the officials. Teach your children to respect the call and the fact that it was made “in the eyes” of another person
  7. Be able to recognize and demonstrate appreciation for outstanding play by either team
  8. The use of profanity is strictly forbidden
  9. The use of alcohol, illegal drugs or controlled substances at a game or practice is strictly forbidden
  10. Be a role model for all players to emulate and use positive actions to reinforce good behavior
  11. Turn defeat into victory by helping your child work towards skill improvement and good sportsmanship. Do not yell at your child for making mistakes or losing a game. Remember that games are learning experiences and that mistakes are often made in the process of improvement
  12. Always support and encourage good sportsmanship regardless of the situation, outcome of the game, the official’s calls, the taunts or conduct of the opponents. Remember to rise above the situation and to always lead the children to this higher level of conduct
